On stage in April

READING  -- "The Vagina Monologues" at Genesius Theatre in Reading. This productin is a fundraiser for women and girls in Berks County and Haiti. Playwright Eve Ensler has compiled these monologues from interviews she conducted all over the world with women and girls who opened up to her about what being female means for them. Some monologues are funny, some inspiring, some upsetting, but all of them are real and they are experienced by more than just the person Eve was talking to at the time.
Performances are April 1 & 2 at 8 p.m. and Sunday April 3 at 2 p.m.
Also playing is "Emotional  Creatures " SAT. APR. 2 at 2 p.m. and SUN. APR. 3 at 7 p.m. Tickets to both shows only $15-$35

MALVERN -- People’s Light and Theatre in Malvern presents “The Master Builder,” Henrik Ibsen’s deeply passionate and intriguing play about a man who finds his creativity threatened at the height of his career, is currently on the Steinbright Stage at People’s Light and Theater, 39 Conestoga Road.
People’s Light’s tradition of reinterpreting classics continues with this new translation that finds Halvard Solness unsettled in his profession, his personal life in shambles. The unexpected arrival of the young, attractive and manipulative Hilda Wangel breathes new life into his work, but exacts a terrible cost. “The Master Builder” will run through April 17. With this production, People’s Light continues its program called The Scoop: History, Context and Gossip an hour before every performance. Cast member Susan McKey will discuss the world of the play, how and why it was chosen, how it was cast, designed and rehearsed. Tickets for “The Master Builder” are $25 to $45.  BOYERTOWN --  The music department of Boyertown Area High School will present the Andrew Lloyd Weber musical “Phantom of the Opera” Thursday April  7 through Sunday, April 10, in the high school auditorium. The musical will be presented at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 9, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 10.
